Preceding the final proposal for an art museum to Fiskars village, was a group work aiming at discovering the different conceptual possibilities of the site. Our group was assigned with the theme of biomimetic and biomorphic architecture. Given that the site consists of a steep hill, we started to discover the possibilities of creating a concept that goes through the hill, hence the name. At the same time we didn't want the concept to be completely biomorphic, but to have a contrasting man-made element to it, which became finalised in the glass cubes serving as roof lanterns to let in light to the interior spaces. The interior space division revolves around a lobby area which is the only visible space towards the street which is connected to the other interior spaces through an open atrium, which enables the visitors to easily find their way around. We also used the process to discover different ways to make the space adjustable and modular which can be seen in the diagrams.

The group work was fruitful in combining three different visions from three different nationalities and cultures and served as a good foundation for the individual work process. The end result became quite futuristic and would have turned out very interesting, had we made a final proposal based on the concept. My group mates went on to elaborate on the concept further, whilst I decided to work on other themes which can be found in the work ''Nya Bruket''.
